Media accreditation is issued by the Media Council of Uganda. The council is further empowered under Section 29 of the Press and Journalist act, Cap.105 to accredit foreign journalists who intend to carry out any act of journalism in Uganda.

Requirements and Procedure for Accreditation:
A headed letter from your employer addressed to the Secretary, Media Council of Uganda stating the purpose of visit.
Two passport-size photographs and a Scanned Copy of your Passport
Fill Form G stating the applicant’s particulars (We send you a copy of the form G to fill out).
A fee of US$175 per person is paid for a period not exceeding 30 days of the journalist’s stay.
A fee of US$225 per person is paid for a period beyond 30 days up to six months of stay.
A fee of US$325 per person is paid for a period of two years.
It takes us 3-4 days to process the film permits. We have a good relationship with the Uganda Media Council.
